Summary

The City of Alachua's 2016 Strategic Plan included Initiative 2.2: Plan and implement a community workshop to develop strategies to improve public perception of the City on Economic Growth.

The purpose of this initiative was to engage the stakeholders within the City's economic development planning efforts to identify those areas of strengths and weaknesses in the policies and processes of the City's planning and development. The initiative was also designed to elicit from those stakeholders the opportunities as well as the threats they saw in future development within the City, and how they thought the City could improve.

The Workshop was conducted on December 8, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. in the James L. Lewis Commission Chamber at City Hall. The presentation was prepared by the Office of the Deputy City Clerk with invaluable technical support, resources, and historical data provided by Causseaux, Hewett, & Walpole, Inc (CHW) Project Manager Ryan Thompson and Vice President Gerry Dedenbach.

Mr. Dedenbach also acted as speaker and provided the narration of the presentation as well as facilitating the discussion following.

A total of 34 persons signed in as attending. Attendees were provided with copies of the City of Alachua's September 2016 Growth Trends/Population Projections Report and the 2016 CRA Market Study.
