Summary

On August 22, 2016, the City Commission authorized the Mayor to execute an application for funding assistance to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) related to the Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2016 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program.  A request for funding was submitted on behalf of the Alachua Police Department (APD) for the purchase of equipment (computers for patrol vehicles) in the amount of $11,400.  APD has since completed and submitted the online application for the FFY 2016 JAG funding.

FDLE issued notification of grant approval on December 13, 2016 and the Mayor, subsequently, executed the Certificate of Acceptance of Subgrant Award on behalf of the City.

In order to expend these grant funds, a Resolution amending the City's Fiscal Year 2016-2017 Budget is necessitated.
