Summary The City of Alachua's Electric Department provides underground electric service to new and existing customers. Installation of conduit for electrical conductor is installed to complete this work. The method of installation of conduit is either by Directional Bore or Open Cut Method. Directional bore installations are preferred because it causes less damage to existing landscape and roadways. Open-cut method is used in undeveloped areas when applicable.
On January 26, 2017, the City solicited formal bids from qualified vendors. This bid request was for a contract through September 30, 2017. The Contract will automatically renew on October 1, 2017 for a one year extension at the end of the first term and renew for three successive one year terms, October 1 to September 30 of the following calendar year, unless automatic renewal is cancelled by either party.
The City received two (2) bids in response to RFB 2017-02 on a linear foot basis. Both bids were determined to be Responsive & Responsible Bidders: Hartman Civil Construction Company, Inc. and General Underground, LLC.
Staff recommends to proceed with awarding RFB 2017-02 to General Underground, LLC as the lowest Responsive and Responsible Bidder. |
