Summary The City of Alachua acquired approximately 105 acres of land contiguous to the Hal Brady Recreation Complex in November 2011. The initiative to acquire the property has been known as Project Legacy. The $1,150,000 purchase of the property was made possible, in part, by funding from the Tourist Development Tax (TDT) from Alachua County in the amount of $500,000.
As part of the funding from the TDT, the City entered into an interlocal agreement with the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners. The agreement stipulates the City is required to construct three (3) multipurpose fields on the property by Jan. 1 , 2015.
Staff will make presentation to the City Commission to provide options to address compliance with the interlocal agreement.
