Summary School Crossing Guards across the nation provide an invaluable service to their communities by ensuring the safety of children when walking to and from school each day. In recognition of their service and dedication, Governor Rick Scott declared February 6th, 2015, as Crossing Guard Appreciation Day. Crossing Guards of Alachua County were recognized at an appreciation breakfast on Crossing Guard Appreciation Day, at which time Ms. Sheila Wooley was named School Crossing Guard of the Year for the entire state by the Florida Department of Transportation.
In honor of her dedicated service to the community and statewide recognition, a proclamation has been prepared proclaiming Feb. 23, 2015 as Sheila Wooley Day. | | |
