SUBJECT:  Senior Volunteer Recognition

RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Receive the presentation and present certificates and recognition items.

 

Summary

April 12th – 18th has been named National Volunteer Week 2015.  The Florida Department of Elder Affairs is recognizing exceptional and outstanding volunteers that support Communities for a Lifetime activities and programs.

 

Senior volunteers provide essential support for our senior activities at the City of Alachua Cleather Hathcock, Sr. Community Center, under the guidance of Recreation Director Hal Brady and staff Reatha Peterson and Rose Brown.  Eight volunteers have been recognized by the Department of Elder Affairs for their tireless and selfless service to others.  They are Jackie Edwards, Beatrice Flag, Horace Garrison, Katie Holmes, Esther Jenkins, Henry Jones, Julia Kelly, and Gussie Lee.

 

The Department of Elder Affairs has provided certificates and recognition items to honor these volunteers for their service, which are available for presentation by the City Commission this evening.
