Summary The Citizen Advisory Task Force (CATF) is the advisory body to the City Commission on our Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. Recruitment notices for three vacancies on this seven-member committee that meets quarterly, were advertised on March 12th in the Alachua County Today. The recruitment notice was also placed on the City website and several community bulletin boards. In response to this recruitment, the City received two applications by the April 22nd deadline.
The appointment procedure outlined in the Bylaws state…”Candidates for membership on the Task Force shall be proposed by the Task Force and submitted to the City of Alachua City Commission for approval.” The item was discussed by the CATF at its May 5th meeting. The two candidates are as follows:
Diana Felver (seeking reappointment)
Thelma Hammon (seeking reappointment)
The CATF reviewed the applications and unanimously chose Diana Felver and Thelma Hammon to be submitted to the Commission for approval. The two (2) applicants have been notified that two (2) appointments will be considered during tonight’s meeting and have been invited to attend. The Commission may accept the recommendation of the CATF via a motion made during the meeting that states the names of the two applicants to be appointed for three-year terms beginning May 1, 2015 and ending April 30, 2018. |
