Summary

The Planning & Zoning Board is a five member advisory board to the City Commission, with a three year term of office.  The Planning & Zoning Board (PZB) is also known as the Local Planning Agency (LPA), whose duties are set forth in Florida Statute.  The PZB consists of five (5) voting members and a non-voting school board representative.  The PZB provides recommendations to the City Commission on various development applications, such as comprehensive plan amendments, rezonings and subdivision plats, and reviews and makes decisions on certain development applications as provided for within the City Land Development Regulations.

The Board generally meets on the second Tuesday of every month.  The process to make appointments to the PZB is regulated by the City Charter, Commission Rules of Procedure and Land Development Regulations.  These policy documents require that a newspaper advertisement be placed at least two (2) weeks prior to the time upon which appointments are made to the Board.  Advertisements were placed in the Alachua County Today newspaper on May 28, 2015 and June 4, 2015.  Notice was posted on the City's website.  Any citizen who desires to serve on the PZB must be a City resident.

The Commission must consider one appointment to the PZB.  Board member Bob Page was appointed to serve a three (3) year term, which expired on June 14, 2015.  The appointment is for a three (3) year term expiring on June 14, 2018.  A listing in alphabetical order of the applicants is provided for your reference, as well as a ballot, which will be administered by the Deputy City Clerk's Office.  The applicants are as follows:

The candidates have been advised that the Commission will be considering the item and have been invited to attend the meeting.  Their individual applications for board membership are attached.  Resolution 15-17   has been drafted and will be finalized to reflect the appointment made.
