Summary

The Alachua County Board of County Commission (BOCC) is considering the placement of a referendum on the Nov. 2016 ballot relating to funding for land conservation and recreational improvements. The matter was presented at the Alachua County League of Cities meeting held on Sept. 22, 2015 with representatives requesting the language for the ballot referendum be forwarded to all municipalities in the county.

BOCC Chair Charles Chestnut provided a letter to the City regarding the matter, including specific ballot referendum language, requesting the City's position on the proposed referendum.

The language includes funding via a one-half percent sales tax for ten years, beginning Jan. 1, 2017.
