Summary The Florida Department of Transportation has launched a public service campaign entitled "Celebrate Safely" to encourage the use of a designated driver to help reduce alcohol related traffic deaths and injuries during the holiday season. During the week of the Christmas holiday through New Year's Day, participating establishments will agree to serve non-alcoholic beverages free of charge to patrons who identify themselves as the designated driver. The Alachua Police Department has agreed to participate in this year's campaign, and our Traffic Unit is working with local establishments to partner with law enforcement in support of this campaign. Posters, coasters and stickers will be provided to participating establishments for display during the campaign. Additional campaign materials are also available at the entrance to the City Commission Chambers. | | |
