Summary The City's Strategic Plan Strategic Initiative 1.1 relates to the upgrading of critical bottlenecking issues in water infrastructure to accommodate future growth.
The City has proposed water main improvements consisting of 12" and 16" water main segments from a connection point along US 441 west of I-75, under I-75 through existing pipe casing, east to a connection point near NW 151st Blvd. The water main also continues east to NW 147th Drive.
The project will consist of approximately 8,028 linear feet of new water transmission mains. Hydrants and gate valves will be located approximately 400 to 500 feet apart along the alignment. Two (2) jack and bore excavations will occur beneath U.S. Highway 441. It is anticipated the remainder of the water mains will be constructed in a conventional open trench excavation.
Staff has begun negotiating with Causseaux, Hewett, and Walpole (CHW) to provide professional engineering services for the Transmission Water Main Upgrade. The Scope of Services will include Geotechnical Investigation, Professional Surveying Services, Engineering Design Services, Permitting Services, and Construction Administration Services. The negotiations are ongoing and the cost for these services is expected not to exceed $75,000.00.
Staff is requesting authorization from the Commission to continue negotiations, execute a work order, and issue a purchase order to Causseaux, Hewett, and Walpole not to exceed $75,000.00 for these services.
