Summary
Because City government is the government closest to most citizens, and the one with the most direct daily impact upon its residents, it is important that residents understand how their city operates, the services it provides, and the importance of their active involvement in the life of the city.
Florida City Government Week is an opportunity to help residents become more informed about the many services city governments provide. This in turn will lead to more citizen participation and provides additional knowledge to citizens for the future. This year our Public Services will be educating students at Alachua Elementary, W.W. Irby Elementary, and Mebane Middle School by bringing the electrical bucket truck, a waste water truck, and other items to share with the students. City Manager Mike DaRoza will be speaking at the schools about City Government Week. Florida City Government Week is October 17 through October 23, 2022.
