SUBJECT:  Memorandum of Understanding regarding the City of Alachua’s Financial commitment for Arbours at Merrillwood Phase I

RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Authorize the Mayor and City Manager to sign the attached Memorandum of Understanding.  This authorization is contingent upon the City Commission approving the City of Alachua budget for its fiscal year 2022-2023 during the September 26, 2022, City Commission meeting as this budget contains an entry for funding this item.  If the City’s 2022-2023 budget is not approved, then this item is not approved.

Summary

During the April 25, 2022, City Commission meeting, the City Commission approved a commitment to fund and provide to two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000.00) to the Alachua County Housing Authority (ACHA) for the development/redevelopment of the Arbours at Merrillwood Phase I Project.  A copy of the April 25, 2022, agenda item is attached.  The ACHA requested an agreement related to this funding commitment.  Attached is a Memorandum of Understanding which confirms the City’s funding commitment.  The wording of the Memorandum of Understanding tracks the language of the April 25, 2022, agenda item previously approved by the City Commission. The attached Memorandum of Understanding has already been signed by the ACHA.
