SUBJECT:  CRA Activities Staff Update

Summary

The first monthly community event called "Third Thursday on Main" will be held on March 15th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. These regular events are designed to attract new and repeat customers to Main Street by bringing live music and restaurant seating and retail into the street. Staff has been working to plan the event, schedule entertainment, coordinate with community groups, and market the event. Effort has also been made to include the Main Street businesses as a primary component of the event. The March event will feature craft beer tastings by local breweries, and the April event will include the Alachua Artwalk.

 

Staff is developing proposed policies and procedures for the Business Façade Grant Program as part of the 2018 CRA and the City Commission Strategic Plan. The Advisory Board will further discuss this Program at an upcoming meeting and provide a recommendation to the CRA.
