SUBJECT:  CRA Activities Update

Summary

 

Community Redevelopment Agency Advisory Board (CRAAB) Vacancy and Appointment: At its May 14, 2018 meeting, the CRA reappointed Rudy Rothseiden to serve on the CRAAB. Mr. Rothseiden's re-appointment is for a three year term, beginning on June 12, 2018.

 

Main Street Showcase Event: The new Main Street & CRA brand materials and current and future projects will be presented to the the public, business owners, and the media in a showcase event which will be held on Tuesday, May 29th at Theatre Park from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Posters of the new logo and recent CRA projects will be on display at the event for attendees to view.

 

Main Street Beautification Project: Phase III of the Main Street Beautification Project, which is comprised of the segment of Main Street from NW 147th Avenue to NW 145th Avenue, is nearing completion. This project includes the replacement of asphalt in the intersection of 146th Avenue and Main Street, repairs to unsafe and broken sidewalks, and installation of new landscape plants and irrigation. Road striping and marking is expected to be completed this week.

 

The Great American Cleanup: The Annual Great American Cleanup was hosted on May 5th from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Volunteers planted flowers and crepe myrtles on Main Street and behind the Swick House. The crepe myrtles were donated by Grandiflora Nursery.

 

Business Facade Grant: Staff is preparing materials for the Business Facade Grant program, which will offer a matching grant to commercial property owners to improve the facade of their buildings. The Grant Policies and Procedures is in final review by City Staff. CRA Staff is currently developing the program application, applicant agreement, and award criteria ranking sheet. It is expected that the materials for the program will be presented to the CRAAB at its June meeting.
