Summary Because city government is the government closest to most citizens, and the one with the most direct daily impact upon its residents, it is important that residents understand how their city operates, the services it provides, and the importance of their active involvement in the life of the city.
Florida City Government Week is an opportunity to help residents become more informed about the many services we provide, which will lead to more knowledgeable citizen participation in the future. Florida City Government Week is October 22 through October 28, 2018.
In an effort to show our citizens the function of city government, we have planned several activities in which we encourage them to participate.
1. On Monday, October 22, 2018 at 5:00 P.M., we will hold a Meet and Greet at City Hall where citizens can talk with Mayor Coerper, Vice Mayor Hardacre, Commissioner Brown, Commissioner Wilford, and Commissioner Miller.
2. On Tuesday, October 23, 2018 we will hold a Getting To Know Your City presentation at Santa Fe High School and Bhaktivedanta Academy.
3. We will place daily messages on our Facebook page discussing the accomplishments and future of the City of Alachua.
4. We will have magnetic bumper stickers that encourage everyone to proudly display their support of city government and the community we serve. |
