SUBJECT:  Engineering Services for Expansion of City Existing Electrical Infrastructure

RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract to provide Engineering Services for Expansion of City Existing Electrical Infrastructure with Jacobs, consistent with RFP 2018-02, in an amount not to exceed $400,000.

 

Summary

On June 18, 2018, the City solicited formal proposals (RFP 2018-02) from qualified vendors to provide engineering services to assist in the expansion of the City electric system.

 

On Aug. 13, 2018, the City Commission voted 4-0, authoring Staff to negotiate with Jacobs, which was the top ranked firm.

 

Staff began negotiations with Jacobs for engineering services for expansion of City electrical infrastructure and designed a scope of work that addresses the following tasks:

  • Task 1 - Design New Greenfield Substation
  • Task 2 - Bidding Administration
  • Task 3 - Transmission Interconnection Requirements
  • Task 4 - Construction Administration
  • Task 5 - Startup and Commissioning Support
  • Geotechnical Analysis
  • Topographical Survey

 

Based upon agreed negotiations, staff recommends to move forward with executing a contract to provide Engineering Services for Expansion of City Existing Electrical Infrastructure.

 
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Yes
BUDGETED: Yes
AMOUNT:  $400,000
FUNDING SOURCE:  Electric Fund
ADDITIONAL FINANCIAL INFORMATION:Funding has been allocated in the FY 2018-19 Electric Division Budget.  Final contract amount to be determined based on negotiations, but not to exceed $400,000.
