SUBJECT:  School Resource Officer Program Contract for 2019-2020 School Year

RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Authorize the Mayor, City Manager and City Attorney to execute the agreement between the School Board of Alachua County (SBAC) and City of Alachua for provision of the School Resource Officer Program, and submit three signed originals to SBAC for approval.

 

Summary

The School Board of Alachua County (SBAC) has expressed its intent to continue the School Resource Officer Program (SROP) with the City of Alachua for the four schools within our jurisdiction - Santa Fe High School, Mebane Middle School, Alachua Elementary School and Irby Elementary School.  As such, the SBAC has requested that we enter into another service agreement for the 2019-2020 school year.

 

The agreement now requires assignment of two (2) officers at Santa Fe High School, and the share of funding for Alachua schools is $300,000.00 for the designated period, an increase of $121,082.00.  Funds will continue to be paid to the City in ten monthly payments, beginning 10/30/2019; monthly payments shall be one-tenth of the agreed total share, provided the SROP positions are staffed by 10/01/2019.
