Summary The City of Alachua's Electric Department provides underground electric service to new and existing customers. Installation of conduit for electrical conductor is installed to complete this work. The method of installation of conduit is either by Horizontal Directional Drilling or Open Cut Method. Directional bore installations are preferred because it causes less damage to existing landscape and roadways. Open-cut method is used in undeveloped areas where applicable.
On July 23, 2019, the City solicited formal bids from qualified vendors to furnish all necessary equipment, supervision, labor and materials to provide the installation of electrical conduits, conductors, and ancillary items by Horizontal Directional Drilling or Open Cut Method.
The awarded bid will include a contract effective through September 30, 2019 . The contract will automatically renew on October 1, 2019 for a one (1) year extension at the end of the first term and renew for two (2) successive two year terms, effective October 1 to September 30 of the following calendar year, unless automatic renewal is cancelled by either party.
The City received four (4) bids in response to RFB 2019-09 on a linear foot basis. All bidders were determined to be Responsive and Responsible bidders: Hartman Civil Construction Co, Inc.; D&D, Inc.; General Underground, LLC and Electricom, LLC.
Staff recommends to proceed with awarding RFB 2019-09 to Electricom, LLC as the lowest Responsive and Responsible Bidder. |
