Summary

Annual CRA Stakeholder's Meeting

 

CRA Staff plans to host the Annual CRA Stakeholder's Meeting during the month of October. The Annual CRA Stakeholder's Meeting is an opportunity for business owners, property owners, and residents within the CRA to learn about CRA programs and projects planned for the upcoming year. The Annual CRA Stakeholder's Meeting also provides an opportunity for stakeholders to ask questions and provide feedback to CRA Staff. Further information about the Annual CRA Stakeholder's Meeting is forthcoming, and will be shared with CRA Advisory Board members, the Alachua Business League, Alachua Chamber of Commerce, and CRA businesses.

 

Approval of Business Facade Grant Application (Robertson)

 

At its September 9, 2019 meeting, the CRA reviewed and approved the Business Facade Grant Application submitted by Rick Robertson for improvements to the buildings located at 14911 Main Street and 14040 NW 148th Place.

 

The Project improvements include:

  • Replacing four (4) awning covers on existing frames on each of the four (4) suites at 14911 Main Street;
  • Replacing one (1) door at 14911 Main Street, Suite 102; and,
  • Replacing one (1) awning cover on an existing frame at 14040 NW 148th Place.

 

The applicant will have 80 days from the date of approval to begin the Project improvements and 120 days from the date of approval to complete work. Once improvements are completed, Staff will present the Project results to the CRA and the CRA Advisory Board.

 

Wayfinding Sign Master Plan

 

At its August 19, 2019 meeting, the final draft of the CRA Wayfinding Sign Master Plan was presented to the CRA Advisory Board. CHW Professional Consultants, who has been contracted by the CRA to develop the Plan, will soon deliver the report in its final form, incorporating the feedback received at the August 19, 2019 meeting. This final report and Plan will be placed on an upcoming CRA Advisory Board Meeting agenda as an informational item.

 

Third Thursday on Main

 

The August 15, 2019 Third Thursday on Main event was cancelled due to inclement weather experienced earlier in the day and extending into the early evening. The next Third Thursday on Main Event is scheduled for September 19, 2019, and will feature live music by the Justin Lee Partin Band, trivia contests during intermission, vendors, and the Alachua Farmer's Market (organized by the Alachua Chamber of Commerce).
