SUBJECT:  Children's Trust of Alachua County Grant Award Authorization

RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement with the Children's Trust of Alachua County for funding consistent with the City's grant application to RFA 20-937.

 

Summary

The City Commission, by a 5-0 vote, on Dec. 9, 2019 authorized the City Manager to submit a grant application to the Children's Trust of Alachua County for RFA 20-937.

 

The application included funding for programs in after school activities, tutoring services, summer enrichment and education services, and summer high school credit courses in music and science/technology

 

The grant application was submitted by City staff on Dec. 18, 2019.

 

The Children's Trust considered 56 applications and funded applications at a 70%, 50% and 30% level based upon ranking of the applications.  The City's application received the highest funding level award of 70% for a total award of $135,002.

 

In order to move forward in the development of the program, City staff is requesting authorization from the City Commission to enter into an agreement with the Children's Trust to provide the services under the grant application.
